Introduction
The amount of time a baby over four months old can spend tummy-down can be determined according to their individual physical condition. If the baby is developing well, has good physical health, and strong limb and muscle strength, they can typically lie on their stomach for about 20 minutes. If the baby's physical development is delayed, their constitution is weaker, and their limb muscle strength is poor, they may start with around 5 minutes of tummy time, gradually increasing the duration as they gain strength through practice.

How long a baby over four months old can lie on their stomach depends generally on their individual physical condition. Specific analysis is as follows:

1. Good physical condition

If the baby is developing well physically and has good overall constitution, regularly practices tummy time, and has strong limbs and muscle strength, they can usually lie on their stomach for a longer duration—about 20 minutes.

2. Poor physical condition

If the baby has delayed physical development, poor constitution, weak limbs and muscles, and rarely practices tummy time, it's recommended to start with about 5 minutes of tummy time, gradually increasing the duration with practice. This helps prevent excessive muscle tension or physical fatigue.

It is advised that caregivers supervise closely to avoid blocking the baby’s nose and mouth, which could interfere with normal breathing.
