Introduction
Congenital heart disease generally refers to heart defects present at birth. Whether congenital heart disease can be cured depends on the specific condition. Mild forms of congenital heart disease may be curable, but severe types such as tetralogy of Fallot or trilogoy of Fallot are mostly incurable. Individuals with congenital heart disease should seek timely medical evaluation and treatment.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) generally refers to structural heart abnormalities present at birth. Whether CHD can be cured depends on the specific condition. Mild forms of congenital heart disease may be curable, but severe types such as Tetralogy of Fallot or Tricuspid Atresia are mostly incurable. The details are as follows:

1. Curable

In general, small atrial septal defects and patent ductus arteriosus with small diameters may close spontaneously over time even without treatment. Additionally, mild congenital heart defects such as ventricular septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, and patent foramen ovale may be cured through surgical intervention under medical guidance, especially when not accompanied by other complications.

2. Incurable

Some severe forms of congenital heart disease, such as Tetralogy of Fallot, Tricuspid Atresia, and Tricuspid Valve Dysplasia, usually cannot be completely cured. Even with aggressive surgical treatment, the goal is typically to alleviate symptoms and improve the patient's quality of life rather than achieve a full cure.

If you or someone you know has congenital heart disease, it is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation and follow the doctor’s treatment plan. Maintain a light diet, eat easily digestible foods, and avoid spicy or irritating foods such as chili peppers and hot pot. Also avoid alcohol, strong tea, and coffee. Establish healthy lifestyle habits, ensure adequate sleep, and avoid staying up late.
