Introduction
Elevated levels of serum pepsinogen PG1 and PG2 may be caused by conditions such as gastritis, gastric ulcers, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. Gastritis refers to inflammation of the gastric mucosa, with common causes including Helicobacter pylori infection, use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and improper diet. Gastritis can lead to damage of the gastric mucosa and reduced gastric acid secretion, thereby resulting in decreased serum gastric acid levels.

Elevated serum pepsinogen PG1 and PG2 levels may be caused by conditions such as gastritis, gastric ulcer, or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The specific analysis is as follows:

1. Gastritis

Gastritis refers to inflammation of the gastric mucosa. Common causes include Helicobacter pylori infection, use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and improper diet. Gastritis can damage the gastric mucosa and reduce gastric acid secretion, leading to decreased serum pepsinogen levels. Treatment may include medications such as omeprazole enteric-coated capsules or rabeprazole sodium enteric-coated capsules, as prescribed by a physician.

2. Gastric Ulcer

A gastric ulcer refers to erosion and ulceration on the surface of the gastric mucosa. Helicobacter pylori infection is a common cause of gastric ulcers. This bacterium can induce gastric mucosal inflammation and affect gastric acid secretion, resulting in abnormal findings in gastric function tests. Treatment may include prokinetic agents such as mosapride citrate or domperidone tablets under medical guidance.

3. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)

GERD may stimulate the nervous system and disrupt gastric acid secretion, leading to abnormalities in gastric function test results. Medications such as lansoprazole enteric-coated capsules or omeprazole enteric-coated capsules may be used under a doctor's supervision.

In addition to the above causes, elevated pepsinogen levels may also result from duodenal ulcers, gastric polyps, or gastric tumors. If abnormal test results are found during examination, it is important to take them seriously and actively cooperate with medical treatment.
