Itching after treating flat warts
Itching after treatment for flat warts may be caused by improper skin care, bacterial infection, allergies, or other reasons. It can be managed through general care or medication. Specific causes are as follows:
1. Improper Skin Care
After laser treatment for flat warts, using irritating skincare products or consuming spicy and stimulating foods may irritate the local skin, leading to itching. Avoid using irritating skincare products and reduce intake of spicy foods.
2. Bacterial Infection
Contact of the treated area with water may lead to bacterial infection, causing redness, pain, and itching in the local skin. Follow your doctor's instructions to use medications such as erythromycin ointment or mupirocin ointment.
3. Allergic Reaction
Consuming allergenic foods after treatment may trigger a localized allergic reaction, resulting in rashes and severe itching. Use medications such as calamine lotion or compound acetic acid dexamethasone cream as directed by your doctor.
In addition to the above causes, itching could also result from scar hypertrophy or secondary human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Avoid scratching with hands and maintain cleanliness of the affected area.
