Blisters on the skin due to pressure
Skin blistering due to pressure may result from physiological factors, or it may be caused by pathological conditions such as contact dermatitis or eczema. Treatment can be achieved through general care and medication. Specific details are as follows:
I. Physiological Factors
This commonly occurs in patients who are paralyzed or comatose. Due to prolonged bed rest without spontaneous repositioning, skin blood circulation and nutrient supply become impaired, leading to local tissue necrosis and the aforementioned symptoms. It is important to frequently reposition the patient, change clothes regularly, and adjust lying positions often.
II. Pathological Factors
1. Contact Dermatitis
This is usually caused by skin exposure to external substances such as pollen or mites. Under inflammatory stimulation, pain may occur. Treatment may include topical application of compound acetic acid dexamethasone cream or oral administration of methylprednisolone tablets, under a doctor's guidance.
2. Eczema
Eczema is primarily associated with allergens, changes in humidity, and microorganisms. It may lead to persistent blistering accompanied by itching. Topical medications such as desonide cream or tacrolimus ointment can be applied under medical supervision.
In addition to the above causes, blisters may also result from conditions such as dyshidrotic eczema, herpes simplex, or herpes zoster. It is advisable to wear loose, comfortable clothing, preferably made of cotton.
