Elbow joint reduction technique
Generally, elbow dislocation refers to posterior dislocation of the elbow joint, which is commonly treated with manual reduction. The specific procedure is as follows:
1. The patient sits down, and after disinfecting the skin around the elbow joint, 0.25% lidocaine is injected locally.
2. The patient wraps the affected arm around the doctor's waist, positioning the elbow in a flexed state.
3. The doctor grasps the patient’s wrist on the affected side with the right hand, continuously pulling and applying traction to the forearm. With the left hand, the doctor presses on the olecranon of the ulna at the affected elbow joint, simultaneously applying traction and flexing the elbow in the direction opposite to the dislocation until the joint is successfully reduced.
After reduction, a cast should be applied, followed by immobilization with a brace for approximately three weeks to allow healing of the ligaments surrounding the elbow joint. It is recommended that elbow joint reduction be performed at a正规 medical facility by a qualified physician.
