Introduction
Athlete's foot refers to tinea pedis. A 10-year-old girl may develop tinea pedis due to factors such as poor hygiene, hot and humid environments, low immunity, hyperhidrosis, or eczema. It is recommended to seek medical attention promptly and receive treatment under a doctor's guidance. In daily life, she should get adequate rest, ensure sufficient sleep, avoid staying up late, and engage in moderate outdoor activities such as walking or jogging.

Athlete's foot refers to tinea pedis. A 10-year-old girl may develop athlete's foot due to factors such as poor hygiene, hot and humid environments, low immunity, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), or eczema. It is recommended to seek medical attention promptly and receive treatment under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Specific causes are analyzed as follows:

  1. Poor personal hygiene: If the girl does not maintain good personal hygiene—such as infrequent foot washing, failure to change socks and shoes regularly, or sharing towels and slippers with others—fungal transmission and infection may occur. It is important to educate her on developing proper hygiene habits, including daily foot washing and changing into clean socks and shoes.

  2. Hot and humid environment: Prolonged exposure to hot, moist conditions or frequent contact with fungus-contaminated items—such as slippers or floors in public showers—can increase the risk of athlete's foot. Try to avoid staying in hot, humid environments for extended periods and ensure indoor areas are well-ventilated and dry.

  3. Weakened immunity: Conditions that lead to reduced immunity—such as picky eating or anorexia causing nutritional imbalances, or chronic late nights and insufficient sleep—can make the body more susceptible to fungal infections. Ensure the child gets adequate sleep and avoids staying up late. Maintain a balanced diet rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals by consuming foods such as lean meat, fish, vegetables, and fruits to strengthen the immune system.

  4. Hyperhidrosis: Excessive sweating may be caused by psychological factors or improper medication use. Overly sweaty feet create a favorable environment for fungal growth, potentially leading to athlete's foot accompanied by itching. Parents may administer medications such as Wu Jia Pian (Schisandra tablets), vitamin B1 tablets, or Gweidin (Oryzanol) tablets under a doctor’s guidance.

  5. Eczema: This condition may be associated with environmental factors or bacterial infections, causing symptoms such as skin papules and itching. When skin erosion occurs, it may predispose the feet to fungal infection. Parents may use medications such as loratadine tablets, boric acid ointment, or rivanol solution under medical supervision.

In daily life, it is important to get sufficient rest, ensure adequate sleep, avoid staying up late, and engage in moderate outdoor activities such as walking or jogging, which can aid in recovery.
