Introduction
In general, green stool may be caused by food coloring, accelerated intestinal transit, indigestion, intestinal dysbiosis, or biliary obstruction. Treatment options include general management and medication. It is important to maintain a balanced diet, consume more fiber-rich foods, and keep regular作息 (daily routines) and moderate physical activity.

Under normal circumstances, green stool may be caused by food coloring, accelerated intestinal transit, indigestion, intestinal dysbiosis, or biliary obstruction. If discomfort occurs, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly. The specific analysis is as follows:

1. Food Coloring

Consuming large amounts of green vegetables, food dyes, or iron supplements can cause stool to appear green. No special treatment is required; simply adjust the diet by reducing intake of green vegetables or temporarily discontinuing iron supplements.

2. Accelerated Intestinal Transit

Rapid intestinal motility may cause bile to be excreted before being fully broken down, resulting in green stool. It is advisable to adjust dietary habits and increase fiber intake to maintain intestinal health.

3. Indigestion

When gastrointestinal motility slows or digestive enzyme secretion is insufficient, food remains in the intestines for prolonged periods. Bacterial action on the food produces biliverdin, leading to green-colored stool. Increasing physical activity moderately to promote gastrointestinal motility and avoiding overeating are recommended.

4. Intestinal Dysbiosis

Intestinal dysbiosis is associated with long-term antibiotic use, improper diet, and other factors. Imbalanced gut flora lead to excessive fermentation of food, producing acidic substances that turn stool green, possibly accompanied by symptoms such as diarrhea or constipation. It is recommended to take medications under a doctor's guidance, such as bifidobacterium-lactobacillus-triple live bacterial tablets, bacillus subtilis-bifidobacterium dual live bacterial granules, or montmorillonite powder.

5. Biliary Obstruction

Biliary obstruction, often due to biliary inflammation or other causes, blocks bile excretion, leading to bile accumulation. This may result in abnormal stool color, including green, and may be accompanied by symptoms such as right upper abdominal pain and jaundice. Patients may be treated under medical supervision with medications such as carboprost tromethamine injection, anti-inflammatory and cholagogue tablets, or ursodeoxycholic acid capsules.

In daily life, it is important to maintain a balanced diet, consume adequate fiber-rich foods, and adhere to regular作息 (sleep-wake cycles) and moderate physical activity.
