Introduction
The effect of perilla leaf on tinea varies depending on the severity of the condition. Its components, such as perillaldehyde and limonene, can improve mild cases by inhibiting fungal growth and relieving itching and erythema. However, for severe cases with extensive infection and deep fungal penetration into the skin layers, the antibacterial components of perilla leaf have difficulty reaching the affected areas and cannot achieve a complete cure.

Whether perilla leaves can treat ringworm depends on the severity of the condition. Perilla leaves may offer some improvement for mild cases of ringworm, but they are not suitable for more severe cases. Detailed analysis is as follows:

For mild cases of ringworm, perilla leaves can play a notable role. They contain substances such as perillaldehyde and limonene, which have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, helping to inhibit the growth of fungi that cause ringworm to a certain extent. Patients with mild symptoms can apply fresh perilla leaves—washed, crushed, and directly applied to the affected area—to relieve local symptoms such as itching and redness. As a natural herb, perilla leaves are unlikely to cause irritation and provide gentle care for the skin.

However, when ringworm has progressed to a severe stage, the effectiveness of perilla leaves becomes quite limited. Severe ringworm not only covers a large infected area but also involves deep fungal penetration into the skin layers, potentially causing tissue damage. The antibacterial components in perilla leaves cannot easily penetrate deeply into the affected areas to completely eliminate the fungi. Relying solely on perilla leaves for treatment will not address the root cause of the condition, making it prone to recurrence and preventing true recovery.

When using perilla leaves to treat ringworm, ensure the skin is intact. If symptoms do not improve or worsen after application, prompt medical attention should be sought.
