Introduction
Treatment methods after a bee sting generally include removing the stinger, washing the area with soapy water, applying an alkaline solution, using cold compresses to reduce swelling, and applying anti-allergic ointment. If the stinger remains embedded in the skin, gently lift it out with sterilized tweezers or the tip of a needle, taking care not to squeeze the venom sac to prevent additional venom from entering the body. After removal, wipe the affected skin area with a clean gauze pad to minimize residual venom.

General treatment methods after a bee sting include removing the stinger, washing with soapy water, applying alkaline solutions, using cold compresses to reduce swelling, and applying anti-allergy ointments. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Remove the stinger: If the stinger remains in the skin, gently lift it out with sterilized tweezers or a needle tip. Avoid squeezing the venom sac during the process to prevent additional venom from entering the body. After removal, wipe the affected area with clean gauze to minimize residual venom.

2. Wash with soapy water: Bee venom is acidic. Washing the sting site repeatedly with soapy water (or baking soda solution) helps neutralize the acidity of the venom and reduces irritation. Each wash should last at least 5 minutes, followed by drying the skin with a clean towel.

3. Apply alkaline solution: After cleaning, apply diluted ammonia water or a baking soda solution to the affected area to further neutralize the venom and relieve pain and itching. Be cautious not to use highly concentrated solutions to avoid skin irritation. This can be done 2–3 times daily.

4. Cold compress to reduce swelling: Wrap an ice pack or a cold towel in a cloth and apply it to the sting site for 15–20 minutes. Repeat every 1–2 hours. The cold temperature helps constrict blood vessels, reducing local congestion, swelling, and pain. Do not place ice directly on the skin to prevent frostbite.

5. Apply anti-allergy ointment: If noticeable itching or redness and swelling occur after the sting, apply an anti-allergy ointment (such as hydrocortisone cream) to suppress the local allergic reaction and relieve discomfort. Ensure the skin is clean and dry before application, and follow the instructions for proper dosage.

If systemic symptoms such as widespread rash, difficulty breathing, dizziness, or nausea occur, seek medical attention immediately. Avoid scratching the affected area after a sting to prevent skin breaks and possible infection. When outdoors, take preventive measures and avoid approaching areas where bees gather to reduce the risk of being stung.
