Can Behçet’s disease be cured?
Disease description:
Recurrent, frequent oral ulcers raise suspicion of Behçet’s disease. Can Behçet’s disease be cured?
Most cases of Behçet’s disease can be cured. Behçet’s disease is a benign, autoimmune disorder whose primary manifestation is recurrent oral ulcers; in a minority of patients, genital ulcers and skin lesions of varying severity may also occur. With systematic, standardized treatment, complete remission or cure is achievable—however, early diagnosis and prompt initiation of appropriate therapy are critical. Inadequate or inappropriate treatment may lead to recurrent disease flares.
