Can diabetic patients drink high-calcium, low-fat milk?
Disease description:
My father has diabetes, and he has recently developed calcium deficiency. I would like him to drink high-calcium milk—can people with diabetes consume high-calcium, low-fat milk?
Patients with diabetes can consume high-calcium, low-fat milk. It is recommended that patients drink milk in moderation during periods of stable blood glucose levels. Ideally, milk should be consumed between meals; however, excessive intake at one time should be avoided, as it may cause abdominal distension and indigestion. Additionally, patients are encouraged to consume more fresh vegetables and whole-grain foods.
