Can acute leukemia lead to blood cancer?
Disease description:
People said I looked pale, so I went to the hospital for a checkup. They told me I have acute leukemia, and also mentioned that it might be blood cancer. Does acute leukemia mean having blood cancer?
Acute leukemia is a type of blood cancer. Patients generally experience severe symptoms, including anemia and pallor, as well as nosebleeds, bloody stools, and hematuria. High fever and chills are also common. Additionally, chemotherapeutic drugs may cause fetal malformations; therefore, pregnancy should be avoided as much as possible after chemotherapy and when taking immunosuppressive drugs following bone marrow transplantation. Bone marrow transplantation is currently the most effective treatment, but carries a risk of recurrence.
