What causes pricking pain in the breast?
Disease description:
I've been experiencing needle-like pain in my breasts these days and would like to know what might be causing this.
Pricking pain in the breast may be caused by cystic hyperplasia of the breast, which is usually due to excessive secretion of estrogen from the ovaries, leading to proliferation of breast epithelial cells, resulting in ductal dilation and subsequent blockage. It could also be due to acute mastitis, typically caused by bacterial infection that triggers an inflammatory response in the mammary ducts or the surrounding connective tissue.
