Is an anteverted uterus better or a retroverted uterus better?
Disease description:
During my premarital checkup, I found out that I have a retroverted uterus. I know there's also the term "anteverted uterus." Could you please tell me whether an anteverted uterus is better than a retroverted one?
The anteverted and retroverted uterus each have their own characteristics, but from the perspectives of fertility and physiological health, an anteverted uterus is generally considered more favorable. An anteverted uterus refers to a uterus that tilts forward and bends anteriorly. This position allows the cervix to be more easily bathed in semen, facilitating the meeting of sperm and egg, thus resulting in a relatively higher chance of conception. In contrast, a retroverted uterus may make it more difficult for semen to enter the uterine cavity, potentially reducing the likelihood of pregnancy. From a physiological health standpoint, an anteverted uterus is a normal anatomical variation and typically does not cause symptoms or complications. Although a retroverted uterus is also a normal variant, in some cases it may be associated with various factors such as damage from multiple deliveries or poor postpartum uterine involution, and may be accompanied by certain discomforts, such as lower back pain or dysmenorrhea. Therefore, an anteverted uterus is generally regarded as the preferable condition. However, individual body conditions vary, and anyone with concerns or discomfort should seek timely medical advice.
