What are the symptoms of a stye?
Disease description:
Recently, I've had some redness and swelling near the eyelashes of my left eye, accompanied by pain. I'm not sure if I have a stye. I'd like to know what symptoms a stye has.

Stye, also known as hordeolum or eyelid gland inflammation, is a common ophthalmic condition. Its main symptoms include:
1. Redness, swelling, and pain: In the early stage of the disease, the eyelid develops redness and swelling accompanied by noticeable tenderness. As the condition progresses, the redness and swelling may worsen and a hard nodule may form.
2. Pus formation: Around 3 to 5 days after onset, the nodule may soften and develop a yellow pus spot. The pus spot may rupture spontaneously, draining the pus and facilitating recovery.
3. Increased discharge: Due to inflammatory irritation, eye discharge may increase, typically becoming thick and white or yellow in color.
4. Other symptoms: Some patients may experience systemic symptoms such as cold, fever, or headache. If the nodule is located near the outer corner of the eye, pain and swelling may be more severe and could even cause localized edema.
If redness, swelling, or pain occurs in the eye, prompt medical attention is recommended for professional diagnosis and treatment.
