How to treat bleeding gums
I think I've had excessive internal heat these days; my gums have been bleeding frequently. I would like to know, how can gum bleeding be treated effectively?
Gum bleeding may be caused by various factors such as periodontal disease, brushing too hard, or poor oral hygiene. Management methods include:
1. Improving oral hygiene: Brush teeth correctly at least twice daily using a soft-bristled toothbrush, gently cleaning along the gum line. Use dental floss or interdental brushes to remove food debris between teeth, and use a fluoride mouthwash daily.
2. Regular dental cleanings: Have a professional dental cleaning every six months to one year to help remove tartar and deeply accumulated bacteria.
3. Dietary adjustments: Reduce sugar intake and consume more foods rich in vitamins C and D, which contribute to healthy teeth and gums.
If the above measures prove ineffective, there may be more serious conditions such as periodontal disease, and the following steps are recommended:
1. Dental examination: Seek timely dental care; the dentist will assess the condition and may perform further treatments such as deep cleaning or medication therapy.
2. Professional treatment: In cases of severe periodontal disease, a periodontist may need to be consulted for surgical treatment or other specialized interventions.
Persistent bleeding might be a sign of other diseases such as blood disorders. If symptoms persist or are accompanied by other symptoms, it is essential to seek medical evaluation.
