How to treat a stye
Disease description:
I don't know why I suddenly developed a stye. I'd like to ask the doctor, what is the best way to treat a stye?

A hordeolum, also known as stye, is usually caused by bacterial infection of the meibomian glands at the edge of the eyelid. The following are treatment methods:
1. Warm compress: Apply a warm towel to the affected area for 15-20 minutes, 3-4 times daily. Warm compresses help reduce swelling and promote drainage of pus.
2. Topical medication: A doctor may prescribe antibiotic eye ointment or eye drops, such as erythromycin eye ointment, to be applied to the affected area to help eliminate the infection.
3. Avoid squeezing: Never squeeze the hordeolum with your hands, as this may cause the infection to spread to surrounding tissues or lead to more serious complications.
4. Rest and hygiene: Maintain good eye hygiene, avoid eye fatigue, and ensure adequate rest.
5. Surgical drainage: For cases where an abscess has formed and medication proves ineffective, a doctor may need to perform a surgical incision to drain the pus.
Note: If there is no significant improvement within one week or if symptoms such as fever or vision loss occur, seek medical attention immediately.
