Disease description:

I have already received intravenous therapy at the hospital for many days due to a urinary tract infection. The doctor said the condition is quite serious and I must completely eliminate the inflammation before being discharged. Therefore, I would like to ask: what are the main symptoms of urethritis?

Urethritis is a common inflammatory disease of the urinary system that primarily affects the urethra, the tube through which urine exits the bladder from the body. Its main symptoms are as follows:

1. Frequent urination: Patients experience the urge to urinate frequently and need to urinate multiple times, although the volume of urine each time may not be large. This is due to urinary tract irritation caused by urethral inflammation.

2. Urgency: Patients suddenly experience a strong urge to urinate, which is difficult to control, requiring immediate voiding.

3. Painful urination: During urination, patients may feel a burning sensation or pain in the urethra, particularly noticeable at the end of urination.

4. Hematuria: Blood may appear in the urine, potentially causing the urine to appear red or pink, or red blood cells visible under a microscope.

5. Cloudy urine: The urine may become cloudy and have an unusual odor.

6. Difficulty urinating: A sensation of weakened urine flow and prolonged urination time.

7. Urethral discharge: Male patients may notice pus-like or mucus-like discharge from the urethral opening; female patients may experience increased vaginal discharge.

8. Systemic symptoms: In cases of severe infection, systemic symptoms such as fever, chills, and fatigue may occur.
