Symptoms of Urethritis in Women
Recently, I have been experiencing pain after urination, urgency, and redness and swelling at the urethral opening. I'm wondering if I might have developed urethritis. Just out of curiosity, I'd like to ask: what are the symptoms of urethritis in women?

Common symptoms of urethritis in women typically include the following:
1. Frequent and urgent urination: Patients often feel the need to urinate frequently, even when the volume of urine is small, accompanied by a strong urge to urinate. Additionally, there is a pronounced urgency that may be difficult to control.
2. Painful urination: A distinct sensation of pain or burning may occur during urination, which can significantly affect daily activities in severe cases.
3. Abnormal urine appearance: Urethritis may cause the urine to appear cloudy, have an unusual odor, or contain blood. These abnormalities are typically due to the presence of pus, bacteria, or red blood cells in the urine.
4. Lower abdominal discomfort: Some patients may experience discomfort or mild pain in the lower abdomen or bladder area.
5. Unusual odor: The urine may emit an abnormal smell.
6. Pain during sexual intercourse: Discomfort or pain may occur during sexual activity.
7. Systemic symptoms: In cases of acute urethritis, patients may also experience chills, fever, and general malaise. This is usually caused by a systemic inflammatory response triggered by rapid bacterial colonization and proliferation in the urethra and bladder.
If you experience any of the above symptoms, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly.
