Baijiu contains a certain amount of purines.

As a distilled spirit, baijiu's main components are ethanol and water, although it also contains trace amounts of purines. Purines are organic compounds widely present in various foods, such as meat, fish, seafood, and legumes. In baijiu, the purine content is relatively low, typically containing approximately 2 milligrams of purines per 100 grams of baijiu.

Alcohol itself is not a major source of purines, but its ethanol component can accelerate the process of purine synthesis into uric acid and may also inhibit the kidneys' ability to excrete uric acid. Excessive alcohol consumption may increase uric acid production and reduce its excretion, thereby indirectly causing elevated blood uric acid levels.

The purine content varies among different types of alcoholic beverages. Beer and hard liquors (such as whiskey and vodka) tend to have relatively higher purine content, whereas wine and baijiu have lower levels of purines.

For patients with gout or hyperuricemia, it is recommended to avoid drinking baijiu as much as possible to prevent exacerbation of their condition.
