Why do I experience lower back pain and soreness after waking up?
Sometimes when waking up in the morning, one may experience back pain and feel as though they hadn't slept at all during the night. What causes this back pain upon waking?

Common causes of lower back and waist pain after waking up:
1. Improper sleeping posture: If the neck is not properly supported by an appropriate pillow when lying on the back, or if the lower back lacks sufficient support when lying on the side, it may lead to abnormal spinal curvature, causing tension and pain in the back and waist muscles.
2. Improper choice of mattress and pillow: A mattress that is too hard or too soft, or a pillow with an unsuitable height, can affect the natural curvature of the spine, leading to discomfort in the lower back. An ideal mattress should provide adequate support to maintain the spine's natural S-shaped curve, while the pillow should suit the individual's sleeping position to preserve the normal physiological curvature of the cervical spine.
3. Lack of exercise: Long-term physical inactivity can weaken the muscles in the lower back and reduce spinal stability, making it more likely to experience discomfort during sleep. Appropriate physical exercise, especially strengthening the core muscle groups, can effectively improve the strength of the lower back muscles and reduce the occurrence of low back pain.
4. Chronic diseases: Conditions such as chronic strain, lumbar muscle strain, lumbar back myofascial inflammation, lumbar disc herniation, and ankylosing spondylitis may also cause lower back pain after waking up.
