What causes aching pain in the lower back?
I've been having a persistent soreness in my lower back lately, which is really uncomfortable. At first, it was just occasional mild pain that I didn't pay much attention to, but it has become increasingly severe these past few days. Standing or sitting for long periods is unbearable, as the soreness continues constantly. What could be causing this?
Causes of lower back pain include:
1. Muscle or ligament injury: Often related to overuse, improper posture, lifting heavy objects, or sudden sprains. In such cases, the pain may worsen after physical activity.
2. Lumbar disc herniation: Prolonged incorrect posture, especially maintaining a bent position for extended periods, may cause the lumbar intervertebral discs to protrude backward, compressing the nerve roots and causing lower back pain, which may be accompanied by radiating pain in the lower limbs.
3. Lumbar spondylolisthesis: Structural abnormalities of the lumbar vertebrae can lead to slippage of the lumbar vertebrae, which may also cause lower back pain.
4. Spinal structural abnormalities: Such as scoliosis or sacroiliac joint dysfunction, these structural issues can result in lower back discomfort.
