What foods should pregnant women avoid eating?
A friend of mine just gave birth, and we want to visit her in the hospital. We would like to prepare some food for her. May I ask what foods are not suitable for postpartum women to eat?

Postpartum women should avoid eating bitter melon, purslane, watermelon, crab, leeks, and similar foods.
1. Bitter melon: Bitter melon is cold in nature. Excessive consumption by postpartum women may cause coldness in the body, affect the discharge of lochia, and possibly lead to gastrointestinal discomfort, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and other issues, which are not conducive to postpartum recovery.
2. Purslane: Purslane has a slippery nature and certain labor-inducing effects. Consumption after childbirth may stimulate uterine contractions and be detrimental to uterine recovery.
3. Watermelon: Watermelon is a cold fruit. Postpartum women generally have weak bodies, and excessive consumption may lead to coldness in the spleen and stomach, affecting digestive function.
4. Crab: Crab is cold in nature and contains high levels of protein and purines. Consumption by postpartum women may cause gastrointestinal discomfort or trigger allergic reactions.
5. Leeks: Leeks may reduce milk supply. Consumption by postpartum women may decrease breast milk production, which is not conducive to breastfeeding.
Postpartum women should also ensure adequate rest, avoid excessive fatigue, and maintain a pleasant mood to promote overall physical recovery.
