Women should also avoid excessive intake of refined carbohydrates during their period. Consuming large amounts of refined carbohydrates such as white rice, steamed buns, and cakes can trigger excessive insulin secretion, disrupt hormonal balance, and further promote inflammation in the body.

Women should also limit caffeine and alcohol intake during menstruation to prevent worsening uterine muscle contractions and increased menstrual pain. Avoid overly salty foods, which may exacerbate bloating and lead to headaches. Instead, women should consume more warming and nourishing foods rich in iron, such as red dates, longan, goji berries, chicken, lamb, and black fungus, which help promote smooth discharge of menstrual blood and prevent anemia.
