Introduction
Swelling and redness from mosquito bites may be caused by insect bites, decreased immunity, allergic reactions, bacterial infections, or contact dermatitis, and timely medical treatment at a hospital is necessary. It is important to get adequate rest and avoid excessive fatigue. Patients are advised to seek medical attention promptly when experiencing discomfort and to receive standardized treatment under a doctor's guidance, which can facilitate recovery.

Generally, redness and swelling caused by mosquito bites may result from mosquito bites themselves, decreased immunity, allergic reactions, bacterial infections, or contact dermatitis, and timely medical treatment is necessary. Specific causes are as follows:

1. Mosquito bites

After a mosquito bites the skin, its secretions can irritate the underlying tissue, causing local capillary dilation and resulting in swelling and pain. Under medical guidance, topical application of erythromycin ointment or oral administration of levocetirizine hydrochloride capsules may be used for treatment.

2. Decreased immunity

Poor nutrition or lack of physical activity can weaken the immune system. After a mosquito bite, this may lead to inflammatory skin lesions, causing redness, itching, and other symptoms. Under a doctor's advice, medications such as pidotimod oral solution or Yupingfeng powder may be taken for treatment.

3. Allergic reaction

After a mosquito bite, toxins from the mosquito’s mouthparts enter the skin. These toxins contain formic acid, anticoagulants, and certain unidentified proteins, which may trigger an allergic reaction in the skin. This increases capillary permeability and accelerates tissue fluid secretion, leading to localized pustules and swelling. It is recommended that patients apply wet compresses with normal saline or boric acid solution to the affected area, which can effectively reduce swelling.

4. Bacterial infection

If bacteria left on the skin by a mosquito bite enter the body, they may cause infection, resulting in skin redness, swelling, and localized pain. Treatment may include antibiotics such as amoxicillin capsules or cefixime capsules, as directed by a physician.

5. Contact dermatitis

This condition is usually caused by skin exposure to external substances such as pollen or animal hair. Under inflammatory stimulation, symptoms such as redness and itching may occur. Under medical supervision, topical application of compound acetic acid dexamethasone cream or oral administration of methylprednisolone tablets may be used for treatment.

In daily life, it is important to get adequate rest and avoid excessive fatigue. Patients should seek prompt medical attention when experiencing discomfort and receive standardized treatment under professional guidance to promote recovery.
