Itchy red circular rash on the skin
Skin itching with red circular rings may be associated with factors such as tinea corporis, erythema annulare centrifugum, and pityriasis rosea. Appropriate medication should be used for treatment. Specific analysis is as follows:
1. Tinea Corporis
This is a fungal infectious skin disease. When the skin is infected by dermatophytes, it may continuously irritate the local area, and the pathogens gradually spread, causing ring-shaped lesions on the skin. This leads to scaly red patches at the edges, which may be accompanied by itching. Treatment should follow medical advice using topical medications such as liranaftate cream, naftifine-ketoconazole cream, or terbinafine hydrochloride gel.
2. Erythema Annulare Centrifugum
This is a recurrent annular (ring-shaped) erythematous skin condition, possibly related to fungal infection or consumption of food contaminated with fungi. After skin infection, complete or partial ring-shaped lesions develop, appearing pale red or slightly yellowish, often accompanied by itching. Treatment should follow medical guidance using medications such as cetirizine hydrochloride tablets, calamine lotion, or compound acetic acid dexamethasone cream.
3. Pityriasis Rosea
This is a common self-limiting inflammatory skin disease seen in clinical practice, which may lead to immune dysfunction. Under inflammatory stimulation, oval-shaped or ring-like red plaques appear, often accompanied by itching. Treatment should follow medical advice using antihistamines such as ebastine tablets, loratadine tablets, or chlorpheniramine maleate tablets.
In addition to the above causes, similar symptoms may also be related to conditions such as pityriasis versicolor, eczema, or urticaria. When discomfort symptoms occur, timely medical evaluation is necessary to identify the exact cause and prevent disease progression.
