What Causes Numbness in the Heel?
Disease description:
I’ve been feeling numbness in my heels lately—what could be causing this?
Numbness in the heel may result from bone spurs irritating the foot muscles or nerves—particularly in elderly patients—and may be accompanied by pain. It may also stem from prolonged standing or frequent jumping, leading to inflammatory exudation in the Achilles tendon and calcaneus. Additionally, excessive physical activity, overuse, or pressure on the heel can trigger an aseptic inflammation of the fat pad, resulting in heel numbness.
