The heart is one of the most vital organs in the human body, located in the thoracic cavity to the left of the sternum. Its primary function is to pump blood, delivering oxygen and nutrients to all parts of the body while removing carbon dioxide and metabolic waste. Normally, the heart is positioned slightly to the left, meaning most of it lies on the left side of the thoracic cavity. This is because the left ventricle is stronger than the right ventricle and requires more space to effectively pump blood. However, in some individuals, the heart may be positioned toward the right; although uncommon, this variation still falls within the normal range. If any cardiac discomfort occurs, prompt medical attention is essential to prevent worsening of the condition.
