Disease description:

My heels have been peeling severely over the past two days, but I haven’t experienced any itching or blistering. I’m unsure whether this is athlete’s foot (tinea pedis). Could you please explain what causes peeling of the heels?

Hello, peeling of the heels may result from several factors: reduced sebum production by the foot’s sebaceous glands, leading to dry, inelastic skin that cracks; poor local circulation causing accumulation of dead skin cells; nutritional deficiencies; or fungal infection. To manage heel peeling, soak your feet in warm water, then apply a moisturizing foot cream to maintain skin hydration. Additionally, increase your intake of vitamin A–rich foods, practice good personal hygiene, and wear breathable shoes and socks. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you a pleasant and healthy life!
