The characteristic symptoms of nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) typically include urinary frequency, urgency, dysuria, and difficulty urinating. Some patients may also experience recurrent urinary tract irritation, urethral pruritus, scant mucoid urethral discharge, and markedly reduced urine output. NGU is a sexually transmitted infection (STI); therefore, treatment with antiviral and anti-infective medications—under the guidance of a healthcare provider—is recommended.
