Introduction
Sneezing accompanied by a dry and itchy throat may be caused by allergic rhinitis, pharyngitis, or physiological factors. When allergens such as pollen or catkins are inhaled, the body initiates a protective response to expel them through the nasal passages. However, some allergens may still enter the throat via the nasal cavity, thereby irritating the throat and causing dryness and itchiness. In addition, sneezing with a dry, itchy throat could also be related to respiratory tract infections or other factors.

Sneezing and a dry, itchy throat may be caused by allergic rhinitis, pharyngitis, or physiological factors.

1. Allergic Rhinitis

Sneezing and an itchy throat can also result from allergic rhinitis, an IgE-mediated non-infectious inflammatory condition of the nasal mucosa triggered by exposure to allergens.

2. Pharyngitis

Pharyngitis is generally an inflammatory disease affecting the mucosal tissues of the throat. Common symptoms include a foreign body sensation in the throat, dryness, and itchiness. It is recommended to avoid eating too quickly, which could damage the esophageal mucosa and harm the digestive system.

3. Physiological Factors

Inhaling allergens such as pollen, willow catkins, or animal dander may trigger the body's natural protective response to expel these substances through the nasal passages. However, some allergens may still enter the throat via the nasal cavity, irritating the throat and causing dryness and itchiness.

In addition, sneezing and a dry, itchy throat might also be related to respiratory infections or acute colds. Further medical evaluation and treatment at a hospital are recommended.
