Does hepatitis B affect marriage?
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a virus that can be transmitted through blood, sexual contact, mother-to-child transmission, and other routes. If one partner carries the hepatitis B virus, it may pose potential risks to the other partner upon marriage.
If neither partner is infected with hepatitis B virus, marriage will not affect their health. However, if one partner is a carrier of the virus while the other is not, the virus may be transmitted to the uninfected partner through blood and bodily fluids during sexual activity, leading to hepatitis B infection. Nevertheless, individuals with hepatitis B are not prohibited from marrying. The healthy partner can receive the hepatitis B vaccine to prevent infection. It is advisable for patients to consider marriage when the virus is in an inactive replication phase and liver function is normal. Therefore, it is recommended to undergo hepatitis B screening before marriage. If infection is detected, appropriate treatment and measures to prevent transmission should be implemented.
Hepatitis B patients are advised to get adequate rest, maintain good sleep quality, obtain an accurate diagnosis, and receive targeted treatment. Additionally, they should avoid smoking and alcohol consumption in daily life to protect liver function.
