Introduction
Swelling of the earlobe from wearing earrings may be caused by prolonged pressure, inflammatory infection, allergy, or other reasons, and can be improved through physical methods or medication. If the earlobe wearing an earring is subjected to prolonged pressure during sleep, local blood circulation may be affected, leading to swelling. This is a normal physiological phenomenon and does not require special treatment.

Generally, swelling of the earlobe after wearing earrings may be caused by prolonged pressure, inflammatory infection, allergies, or other reasons. The condition can be improved through physical methods or medical treatments. Specific analyses are as follows:

1. Prolonged Pressure

If the earring-pierced earlobe is subjected to prolonged pressure during sleep, local blood circulation may be affected, leading to swelling. This is a normal physiological phenomenon that does not require special treatment. Gently massaging the earlobe with both hands can promote local blood circulation and help relieve symptoms more quickly.

2. Inflammatory Infection

If the earlobe area is not properly cleaned and disinfected, bacterial infection may occur, resulting in inflammatory exudation of local soft tissues and causing symptoms such as swelling, pain, and pus discharge. The affected area can be disinfected with iodophor, and antibiotic ointments such as mupirocin ointment or erythromycin ointment should be applied locally as directed by a physician.

3. Allergy

If an individual is allergic to the material of the earring being worn, it may cause local blood vessels to dilate and increase permeability, leading to symptoms such as swelling and itching. Antihistamine medications such as cetirizine hydrochloride tablets or loratadine tablets may be taken orally as prescribed by a doctor.

In addition to the above relatively common causes, swelling may also result from hypertrophic scarring, furuncles, papular urticaria, or other conditions. Appropriate diagnostic evaluations should be performed to identify the underlying cause and guide targeted treatment.
