Acupuncture treatment procedure for lower limb edema
The lower limbs refer to the legs. Leg edema that frequently occurs can be relieved by acupuncture at the Fuliu point, which helps accelerate metabolism, prevent leg swelling, and make leg muscles firmer. The specific procedure is as follows:
1. Sterilize the acupuncture needles and both hands before beginning.
2. Position the patient in a supine position, and locate the Fuliu point on the inner side of the lower leg, 2 cun above the tip of the medial malleolus, anterior to the Achilles tendon.
3. Wipe the acupoint with an alcohol swab and wait for the skin surface to dry before inserting the needle. Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5–0.7 cun.
4. After 20 minutes, remove the needle; the procedure is then complete.
After acupuncture, keep the body warm and drink plenty of water. Acupuncture should only be performed at a正规 medical facility by qualified healthcare professionals. Do not attempt it yourself to avoid causing bodily harm.
