Introduction
During the early stage of HIV infection, some individuals may develop an acute-phase rash on the skin surface. This rash typically appears approximately 2–4 weeks after viral entry and commonly affects the head, face, neck, and back; it may also involve the limbs and genitalia. After progression to AIDS, patients may develop oral hairy leukoplakia, herpes zoster, condyloma acuminatum (genital warts), and cytomegalovirus infection.

We all know that AIDS is a relatively severe disease, and patients often experience significant suffering upon onset. So, what does the skin look like during the early stage of AIDS symptoms?

What does the skin look like during the early stage of AIDS symptoms?

During the initial phase of HIV infection, some individuals may develop an acute-phase rash on the skin surface. This rash typically appears approximately 2–4 weeks after viral entry into the body and commonly affects the head, face, neck, anterior chest, and back; it may also occur on the limbs and genitalia.

After AIDS develops, patients may present with oral hairy leukoplakia, herpes zoster, condyloma acuminatum (genital warts), and cytomegalovirus infection. A small proportion of AIDS patients develop oral hairy leukoplakia, typically characterized by slightly elevated white plaques with a hairy or fuzzy surface appearance. Following progression to AIDS, patients may also develop seborrheic dermatitis, hair abnormalities, telangiectasia, and psoriasis. Among these, seborrheic dermatitis is the most common and often represents the first cutaneous manifestation. In severe cases, thick, yellowish, greasy scales or flakes may accumulate on affected areas. Telangiectasia occurs in all infected individuals, presenting as mild, diffuse erythema following capillary dilation.

We must take proactive measures to prevent HIV/AIDS in daily life. Only through effective prevention can we avoid this disease and maintain a healthy life. We hope this article has been helpful to you. Wishing you happiness and good health!
