In such cases, it is best to immediately immobilize the affected limbs with a cast or supportive brace. Immobilization should last approximately three weeks. During this period, elevating the limbs helps reduce local swelling and pain. Topical application of blood-circulation-promoting medications is recommended and can be combined with treatments such as acupuncture and moxibustion. If the patient does not have high blood pressure, oral muscle relaxants may be taken to promote rapid recovery from muscle injury. In cases of severe leg muscle damage, a clinical examination may reveal a localized depression; if muscle rupture is suspected, an ultrasound examination should be performed.
