Introduction
Hepatitis B, also known as hepatitis B viral infection, typically requires five tests: hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs), hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), hepatitis B e-antibody (HBeAb), hepatitis B e-antigen (HBeAg), and hepatitis B core antibody (anti-HBc). When a person has hepatitis B, the results of these tests will all be positive, indicating that the individual is infected with the virus.

Hepatitis B, also known as hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, typically requires five tests: hepatitis B surface antibody, hepatitis B virus surface antigen, hepatitis B e antibody, hepatitis B e antigen, and hepatitis B virus core antibody. The details are as follows:

1. Hepatitis B Surface Antibody (anti-HBs)

This test detects the level of antibodies in the body, specifically antibodies against the hepatitis B surface antigen. A positive result indicates that the immune system has mounted an immune response against the hepatitis B virus, which may be due to vaccination or recovery from a past infection.

2. Hepatitis B Virus Surface Antigen (HBsAg)

The hepatitis B virus surface antigen is the primary marker for HBV infection. This test determines whether an active hepatitis B infection is present. A positive result indicates either current acute or chronic infection.

3. Hepatitis B e Antibody (anti-HBe)

This test detects antibodies against the hepatitis B e antigen, also known as hepatitis B e antibody. A positive result suggests that the immune system has produced antibodies against the e antigen, which may indicate that the infection has entered a remission phase or is in a state of chronic infection.

4. Hepatitis B e Antigen (HBeAg)

This test detects the presence of hepatitis B e antigen in the blood of individuals infected with HBV. A positive result indicates high viral infectivity, suggesting active viral replication and potential transmission through blood.

5. Hepatitis B Virus Core Antibody (anti-HBc)

This test detects antibodies against the hepatitis B core antigen in the body. A positive result indicates a past infection with the hepatitis B virus and may also suggest ongoing or chronic infection.

When a person has hepatitis B virus infection, the results of the above tests will often be positive, indicating that the virus has been contracted. In such cases, timely treatment under a doctor's guidance is necessary using antiviral and liver-protecting medications. Commonly used drugs include tenofovir disoproxil fumarate tablets, entecavir tablets, and hepatoprotective tablets.
