How to Eat Pineapple Without Causing Internal Heat
Consuming any fruit in excess may lead to “heatiness” (a traditional Chinese medicine concept referring to symptoms such as sore throat, mouth ulcers, or acne), and pineapple is no exception. However, many people greatly enjoy eating pineapple. So how can one eat pineapple without experiencing heatiness?
How to Eat Pineapple Without Causing Heatiness
Prepare a fruit salad with pineapple. First, gather half a pineapple, an appropriate amount of watermelon, and mango. Next, peel and thoroughly rinse the pineapple, then soak it in water for 15 minutes; cut the watermelon into small cubes; and peel and pit the mango before placing all fruits into a bowl. Finally, combine all the fruits in a large bowl, add an appropriate amount of salad dressing and milk, and stir well before serving. This dish is not only delicious and healthy—without causing heatiness—but may also aid in weight management.

Make pineapple ice cream. Pineapple ice cream is especially popular during summer. Ingredients required include pineapple, honeydew melon, and watermelon. Next, wash the pineapple, cut it into chunks, and briefly soak it in lightly salted water. Pour selected cream into a cup. Finally, mix the pineapple, watermelon, and honeydew melon into the cream, stir well, and freeze for one hour before serving.

Control your pineapple intake. Eating too much pineapple at once may not only cause heatiness but also trigger allergic reactions. As pineapple is considered a “warming” (heat-inducing) fruit in traditional Chinese medicine, it tends to generate internal heat easily. Therefore, daily consumption should be limited to one whole pineapple—or approximately half, if the fruit is particularly large. Moreover, avoid eating pineapple on three consecutive days, as this may result in varying degrees of heatiness. We hope this information proves helpful!
