What is menstruation?
Generally speaking, "big aunt" (dà yí mā) is a colloquial term used by women to refer to menstruation, which in medical terms is called menstruation.
Menstruation typically begins during female puberty, and the first menstrual period (menarche) can serve as a marker of puberty. The age at menarche usually ranges from 10 to 17 years. If the menstrual cycle is normal, it occurs every 21 to 35 days and lasts from 2 to 8 days. Some women may experience irregular menstrual cycles or excessive menstrual bleeding; these conditions are considered abnormal menstruation and should be evaluated by a doctor promptly. After identifying the specific cause, appropriate treatment should be initiated.
During menstruation, it's important to maintain body warmth, especially protecting the abdomen from cold. Additionally, one should manage daily diet carefully, avoiding raw, cold, or spicy foods.
