Introduction
Menstrual abdominal pain in female students may result from non-pathological factors, or could be related to primary dysmenorrhea or secondary dysmenorrhea. Symptoms can be relieved through heat application, massage, and, if necessary, medication. If symptoms are severe or suspected to be caused by pathological conditions, it is recommended to seek timely evaluation at a hospital gynecology department for accurate diagnosis and treatment under medical guidance.

Abdominal pain refers to pain in the belly. When students experience abdominal pain during menstruation, it may be caused by non-disease factors, or could be related to primary dysmenorrhea, secondary dysmenorrhea, etc. Symptoms can be relieved through heat application, massage, and, if necessary, medication. The specific analysis is as follows:

1. Non-disease factors

Excessive academic stress, mental tension, or inadequate protection against cold may lead to excessive release of prostaglandins, causing uterine spasms and resulting in pain. It is recommended to consume warm foods, perform local massage, and apply heat to help alleviate symptoms.

2. Disease factors

1) Primary dysmenorrhea

The exact cause is not fully understood, but it is believed to be associated with enhanced uterine contractions and excessive synthesis or release of prostaglandins. Cramping lower abdominal pain and a feeling of heaviness typically occur before or during menstruation. If symptoms are significant, treatment under medical guidance with medications such as ibuprofen sustained-release capsules, acetaminophen tablets, or diclofenac sodium sustained-release tablets may be recommended to reduce or eliminate pain.

2) Secondary dysmenorrhea

This may result from organic lesions in the pelvic cavity, such as endometriosis or endometrial polyps. Endometriosis alters the pelvic environment, thereby causing pain. Patients may follow medical advice to take medications such as acetaminophen capsules, ibuprofen sustained-release capsules, or levonorgestrel enteric-coated tablets for treatment.

In addition, other conditions such as congenital reproductive tract abnormalities, uterine adenomyoma, or cervical cancer may also cause similar symptoms. If symptoms are severe and pathological causes are suspected, it is advisable to seek early evaluation at a hospital gynecology department for diagnosis. Once the underlying cause is identified, treatment should be administered under medical supervision.
