How to Get Rid of Acne on the Face
Many teenagers develop acne on their faces, which often leads to anxiety and negatively affects facial appearance. So, how can facial acne be effectively treated?
How to Treat Facial Acne
Acne—commonly referred to as “teenage pimples”—is essentially adolescent acne. Effective treatment typically involves a combination of oral and topical medications. Oral medications may include both traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formulations and Western pharmaceuticals. TCM options include Fangfeng Tongsheng Granules or Longdan Xiegan Pills. Topical Western medications may include fusidic acid cream. Additionally, under a physician’s guidance, oral isotretinoin capsules or danshen酮 (tanshinone) capsules may be prescribed. Topical clindamycin gel is another effective option for improving acne symptoms. If secondary bacterial infection is present, fusidic acid cream may be added.

Facial acne may result from endocrine imbalance. It rarely occurs before puberty, indicating that androgens play a key role. Androgens can stimulate sebaceous gland cells to varying degrees, increasing sebum production. This may lead to abnormal keratinization in hair follicle sebaceous glands, narrowing the ductal opening and resulting in comedones (blackheads and whiteheads), thereby causing rough skin texture.

Inflammation caused by Propionibacterium acnes infection may lead to papules, pustules, nodules, and abscesses—conditions requiring prompt medical evaluation and treatment. We hope this article has been helpful. Wishing you good health and happiness!
